Calahonda can surely claim to be one of the finest developments along the Costa del Sol.
Since its foundation in 1963 Sitio de Calahonda has won several awards over the years including, an international award for the best Spanish urbanisation for the year 2000-2001, the Resident Tourism Award organized by Mijas town hall in 1986, and the Barclays Bank award for the best developer on the Costa del Sol.

Location and Communications

Situated in the province of Malaga midway between Marbella and Fuengirola, Calahonda offers the possibility of living/staying in an urbanisation of quality and prestige. Puerto Banus, southern Europe's premier boating and leisure centre, is only 15 minutes away and Malagas large international airport can be reached within 20 minutes via a fast modern highway.

TIVOLI WORLD

Tivoli World Amusement Park is located in Arroyo da le Miel, 2 km inland from Benalmadena Costa, and can be reached by the train which runs from Malaga to Fuengirola or by bus from most resorts along the coast. It is the biggest amusement park on the Costa del Sol and offers both rides and a varied program of shows including Flamenco and Wild West shows. It has an area of the park called Tivolandia which is specially for younger children.

AQUALAND

Aqualand aqua park can be found only 10 minutes from the centre of Torremolinos. If you don't have a car you can get there either by bus or train from most of the coastal resorts. The largest water park on the Costa del Sol, Aqualand covers more than 70,000 square metres and has rides such as the recently installed Boomerang, the only one of its kind on the Costa del Sol. You can also try the incredibly exciting Kamikazee Twister, Rapids and the Black Hole. There is also an area for small children, waves pools, lots of grassy areas for those wishing to sunbathe, many restaurants and an 18-hole mini golf course.

SELWO

Selwo Adventure Park is located just off the main road near Estepona . It is a cross between a nature park, safari and adventure park and is unique within Europe. It has extensive grounds with more than 2,000 animals from all over the world such as elephants; lions and tigers living in semi-freedom and you can explore this either in 4x4 jeeps or on foot using the overhead walkways. You can slide on a flying fox over a huge lake, try out archery and ride on the back of Camels. There is a large Aviary with more than 1000 birds along with displays.

For the golf lovers, the Costa del Sol constitutes an international meeting point. The fantastic spring weather all over the year, the large accommodation and amenities offer, together with the super quality of more than 40 golf courses, convert into one of Europe's best golf centres.

Golf courses in Calahonda include.
Club de Golf La Siesta with 9 holes, practise range, putting green, chipping green, paddle tennis, restaurants and bar.
Cabopino golf built in 2001; situated a few metres away from the N-340. Pay and play with 18 holes par 71, which covers an area of 5,170 m². Designed by Juan Ligues Creus.
Within 5 minutes by car are, Artola golf, Santa Maria golf [Elviria], Miraflores golf, [Riviera del Sol] and La Cala golf

Calahonda has is own harbour, Puerto Cabopino where you may practise any kind of nautical sports and activities, like sailing, wind surfing, paracending, kite surfing, boat trips, dolphin watching and skin diving. Puerto de Cabopino offers 170 berths for small and medium size vessels and has many excellent restaurants from most corners of the world

From Puerto Cabopino the fine sandy beaches stretch to Calahonda, and to the west past you can walk along the beach all the way to Marbella, passing the Artola dunes [a protected national park] with it´s restored moorish lookout tower. Puerto Cabopino is surrounded by wide, fine sandy beaches, in the main season life guards watch the activities.
On the beach are Chiringuitos, bars and restaurants for your pleasure

Costa del sol Racetrack-
Situated in La Cala de Mijas, the Costa del Sol Racetrack counts to one of the best in Spain. Fridays and Saturdays families of all ages can enjoy live music here and during the week horse races take place. Jazz lovers should come around 9pm on a Friday and probably will not leave until 2am when the live music stops. On Saturdays you can enjoy varied music before the race and go for a meal in one of the restaurants that are located in the complex. Those interested in learning how to ride can also take riding classes here.
